Welcome to aughnamulleneast.com
This site has been put up to co-inside with the renovation work that is now well underway. At this stage the Parochial House and Parish Offices are complete and on Sunday 20th March 2011 Bishop Liam MacDaid officially reopened and blessed St Mary's Church, Carrickatee after the completion of the renovation work to the church building. At present you can click and view photographs on this site of all three parish buildings which illustrate the importance of and the necessity for the building renovation programme. In order to protect the long term future of these buildings the renovations have now become an immediate priority.
On Monday 4th April renovation work will begin on the Church of the Sacred Heart, Lough Egish. During this time all masses and liturgical celebrations will take place in the St. Mary's Church, Carrickatee.
This site will keep parishioners near and far up to date on the progress of the work, the up and coming necessary fundraising events that will be needed and also to make financial appeals to our parishioners throughout the world from Europe right across to the United States and other Continents where Parishioners of Aughnamullen East have emigrated and set down roots to rear families but who have never forgotten where they came from and their family connections who are still living and worshiping in the area.
This renovation is the largest works carried out on parish buildings throughout the history of the parish. The Parochial House will now include a pastoral centre and parish offices that are required for the future running of the parish and for the setting up of a parish pastoral team, liturgy team, finance team and the various fundraising committees as well as the daily running of the parish and planning for its future. The work in both churches will include making available toilet facilities, a new heating system, damp proofing treatment, upgrading of the existing building and the sacristy and electrical work.
It is an exciting time for the Parishioners of Aughnamullen and for the future families of the parish. Fr Noel McConnell asks that everyone young and old to contribute to the monthly renovation envelope, the fundraising and to feel part of a project which will hand on three very fine buildings for generations to come. A Building/Renovation bank account has been set up in The Ulster Bank Castleblayney and all donations can be made to Aughnamullen East Building Fund c/o Fr Noel McConnell, Parochial House, Shantonagh, Castleblayney, Co Monaghan. We appeal to all parishioners who have a connection to the parish, be it through Christening, First Communion, Confirmation, Weddings, or the resting place of loved ones in the Church cemeteries, to contribute as generously as you can. Over the next few months we will expand this site and update you on the progress of the renovation work.
